S/S COLLECTION INSPIRATION.
i just wanted to share with you some of the images that have been flowing through my mind and posted all over my wall these last couple of months. i am so excited to launch my first official collection next year for spring/summer. i don't want to give away too much, but it is inspired by a book that i read when i was younger, and the images that i imagined when i read it. think pastels, pale colours, dreamy images, beautiful gardens and lots of lace.
now that i have put you in the mood for dreamy images have a click on the avenue maria blog, i recently did an interview with the lovely owner.

Paolo Sebastian Autumn/Winter Couture Show 2011
Words by Mayanthi Dharmabandu & Photography by Viray Thach
We had the pleasure of attending the Paolo Sebastian A/W show on Tuesday the 18th of October
We were seated in the Media Pit, where we had a great view of the runway!
Over 300 guests eagerly awaited for the show to begin, all of a sudden, the lights dimmed, and spot lights came on as Paul Vasileff (The mind and hands behind lable Paolo Sebastian) took to the stage to welcome everyone to the show. Once Paul left the stage, the spot lights began to flicker, and with the music on play, the long awaited show began......
Camera's crowding the end of the runway to capture each creation. |
The show featured high-end cocktail dresses to ballgown wedding dresses, the mix of white, black, and an unexpected touch of red made the collection, and the dusting of sparkle on the gowns really made them shine.
Once the show was over, guests flooded into the grand ballroom for the after party. The show was amazing, and it is fair to say that local Adelaidian, Paul Vasileff, is definelty going to be big in the fashion world!

I went to school with Doran, and I remember I was in Year 12 when my sister and I first caught him sending sneaky texts to his love interest Mel. He blushed and smiled self-consciously, swift to ensure that the secret remained between us. Months later, they were going steady. A couple of weeks ago, on a Thursday night after Mel finished work, he popped the question. I couldn't be more happy for them.
So on the weekend, when Scott (the bearded half of White Wall Photography), Claire and I needed models for a shoot, D & M were the first ones I asked. These are just my photos from the afternoon, but there are plenty more on our respective Facebook pages. Claire also shot a gorgeous video, which you can watch below.
Isn't she loverly?

Hype on Lookbook
Hype on Lookbook
When I meet Alyce Cowell, she's puffed. It's been an early morning, and one flight and three interviews later, the flight of stairs to the first level of Westfield West Lakes was pushing her limits. The tall, blonde stylist who rose above hundreds of bloggers and even appeared on A Current Affair to become the Westfield Insider is human after all.
It reminded me of the way I tend to approach shopping centres: flustered, time-poor, and on a mission. I'm not a leisurely shopper. Give me what I want. In one place. Now. (Can you see why Westfield centres suit me perfectly?)
I described to Alyce the look I was searching for: a bright short suit, seen at Marnie Skillings and Stolen Girlfriends Club at RAFW this year. Her reaction reflected her endearing enthusiasm for high street fashion: 'I have one from Dotti! It would have been perfect!' Endearing, because while most stylists would dismiss the chain stores, Alyce knows what it's like to shop on a student's income, having recently graduated with a bachelor of journalism.
Left: Alyce talking to Kayla Bath, who formerly designed for local label Frankie and Bath. F&B were one of my favourite labels in Adelaide, so it was sad to hear they have no plans to resurrect the label. | Right: The look from Marnie Skillings S/S 2011/12 that inspired our shopping spree.
Before long we're off, and our mission is to buy an entire outfit on a $200 gift card (disclaimer: provided by Westfield). Despite being stopped a couple of times by people who recognised Alyce, and running into local designer Kayla Bath, we managed to grab everything in just over an hour. Say what you want, but everybody needs clothes fast and cheap once in a while - for me that's usually when I've forgotten to do the washing and I need a dress for the wedding tomorrow. And that's what Westfield is all about.
Hope you like the new facebook comments system! Let me know what you think.

From part of the proceeds collected from I ♥ Fashion Night 2011, a donation of coloured pencils, exercise books, and skipping ropes were given to children at the Lawris Childrens Home in Sri Lanka.
This orphanage is home to 43 girls. They were so happy to recieve books and pencils.
...... but even happier to recieve skipping ropes....as you can see in the pictures :)
Thanks for all your support, we hope you continue to support us by attending our events so we can continue to help children in China and Sri Lanka! :)
