'Sisterhood of the Travelling Shorts'
0 commentsWe're bouncing around the office with excitement and anticipation to launch our newest campaign, 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Shorts'. This is something special that we have been working on for months and months and it is just such an amazing feeling to finally share it with you all.
This campaign has such a huge place in our hearts and more than anything we'd like for it to succeed so we can raise as much money as possible for those who are battling breast cancer. 100% of the profits gained from the sales of these cute little pink shorts will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and you can purchase them from www.casperandpearl.com for $60 at 6:00pm tonight!
A casper&pearl girl cares about the world around her and lives passionately!
Lots of love, the c&p girls xx

SARAH DAVIES.
0 commentsWe recently shot our first seasonal campaign for A/W 2013, and what an exciting adventure it's been so far! Although the launch of this collection is months away, we caught up with the casper&pearl girl for A/W 2013 and asked her a few questions. This sweet, brown-eyed beauty is the epitomy of the c&p girl, with her long wild hair and fun bubbly personality! We not only love to design beautiful clothing for you're wardrobes, but we also love to tell stories through each collection and stand for something more. Which is why it was so important to us to find the perfect girl which embodied all that casper&pearl stands for. Get to know this fresh face a little bit more!
Please introduce yourself.
I'm Sarah Davies, I'm 14 years old and I'm with Finesse Models Australia.
What did being chosen as the A/W 2013 casper&pearl girl mean to you?
It was very exciting for me as I love the label and the clothes are just the sort that I like to wear!
What is your favourite piece in the A/W 2013 collection?
I love the 'Lennox' dress and the 'Kershaw' jumpers! I also love the 'Wallflower' dress with the floral embroidery in the front.
Favourite fashion labels?
I love casper&pearl, Finders Keepers, Cameo and Mink Pink!
What's been the most exciting experience so far in your modelling career?
Definitely the casper&pearl shoot, it was so much fun!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully still modelling! And I'd like to study medicine at Uni.
Decribe your style in three words.
Fun, girly and cute.
Lots of love from the c&p girls xx

0 commentsWhen she was younger, Stacey Hendrickson dreamed of floaty picnic dresses, cute bustiers and pretty pastels. The Adelaide beauty brought casper&pearl to life in 2011 and just one year on the brand has gained a huge following, especially in the social media world, which has led to her dress being featured on Teen Vogue along with sending garments to cute-as-pie singer, Lisa Mitchell (I adore her!). The label's aesthetic is flirty, girly and whimsical, embodying every girl's dreams in the form of incredibly beautiful handmade clothing!
casper&pearl recently wrapped up shooting the lookbook for their transeasonal A/W 2013 collection, 'Secret Garden' and as with all of their clothing, the collection promises to capture the hearts of girls everywhere. 'Secret Garden' is bright colours aplenty along with their signature adorable little dresses and shorts as well as seeing the brand branch out by featuring a number of black pieces as well as knitwear - what more could a girl want?!
The lovely designer of casper&pearl, Stacey (the beauty above), was kind enough to share some of her inspirations behind the brand and the new collection!

The lovely designer of casper&pearl, Stacey (the beauty above), was kind enough to share some of her inspirations behind the brand and the new collection!
omg: How old were you when you started casper&pearl?
c&p: I launched casper&pearl fresh out of high school when I was eighteen, but it was a long time coming before that!
omg: Where does the name casper&pearl originate from?
c&p: I'm really inspired by the innocent and girly nature that c&p radiates, so I named the brand after my childhood best friend and I (everyone used to call me Casper because of my pale skin). Pearl used to live across the road from me and we would play every day in flowery fields and have tea parties, which is what I like to imagine girls do when they wear the brand.
omg: Describe casper&pearl in three words.
c&p: Imaginative, feminine and fun!
omg: What or who are your biggest inspirations?
Most of my inspiration walls are plastered with vintage photos from the 70's and 90's, Valentino and Chloe, art and nature.
omg: What's the inspiration behind the upcoming A/W 2013 collection, 'Secret Garden'?
c&p: For this collection I took inspiration from the story ‘Secret Garden’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I was really inspired by floral embroidery, which is featured throughout the collection with flowers that I hand drew. With each collection I really love to tell poetic stories and have hidden meanings; for me this range is a metaphor for how I grew this brand from the ground up out of basically nothing, and I’ve really enjoyed watching it blossom and grow into something so beautiful and appreciated.
omg: Describe the ultimate casper&pearl girl.
c&p: Free-spirited, passionate and happy.
omg: If you could choose anyone to wear your clothes, who would it be?
c&p: I would love to see casper&pearl being worn by Isabel Lucas, Alexa Chung or the Jenner sisters! A girl can dream.
omg: If you weren't designing, what would you be doing?
c&p: Maybe graphic design or photography. I love marketing too! But this way I get to do all four and I love every minute of it!
omg: What is your most treasured item in your wardrobe?
c&p:My grandma passed down some beautiful clothing to me from the 70s, I cherish them too much to even wear out! Or my faux fur vest, I never take it off!
omg: What are your aspirations for casper&pearl?
c&p: My dream has always been to make somebody’s favourite brand, and if I can do that then I’ll be happy. I would also love to see c&p being sold in more stores across Australia and NZ!

last days of summer.
0 commentsIf you only had a few days left of Summer how would you spend them? Fanny from byfanny.se spent her last days frolicking through the flowery fields of her home town in Sweden and stopping to smell and pick flowers. Luckily for us she caught this beautiful moment on film and sent it through to us. Although we feel for our sweet swedes for losing their summer, we can't be happier to be getting it back in Australia! Only a few more weeks until the launch of our new spring collection which features the 'First Love' bustier above, they will be online at casperandpearl.com so make sure you register your details on our website to get in first.
Lots of love from the c&p girls xx

Behind the seams with Keepsake's Carmen Dugan
0 commentsThe first time I meet Keepsake designer Carmen Dugan, it's at a grungy bar in what used to be a two-storey house.
"You should meet Carmen; she's a designer," somebody says.
I ask her about her label, but Destiny's Child is blasting through the speakers, and conversations are always a second priority in the presence of Beyonce. What did you say your label was called again? Never mind. We dance.
Later I realised she was the head designer at Adelaide's own Keepsake. If you're a young woman in Australia and not familiar with Keepsake, you'd certainly know of its sister labels at head company Australian Fashion Labels, Finders Keepers and Cameo. Heck, it's stocked worldwide, and everyone from Hayden Panettiere to Nicole Richie, Nicky Hilton and the Kardashians have been papped wearing the label's dresses. That's more than most 23-year-old designers could say about their work - and probably more than any designer based in Adelaide.
"I was just very lucky," Dugan says, adding that she didn't expect to be able to stay in Adelaide. "Even our TAFE lecturers told us, 'you're probably going to have to move.'"
Indeed, many of her graduating class of 2009 had to move interstate in pursuit of success, or leave the business. Even Dugan's co-designer at her former label had to give up design, and now works in fashion retail. Widely considered among the most promising young designers in Adelaide at the time, Dugan and her friend Kayla Bath formed Frankie & Bath in their final year at TAFE. The duo was placed beside labels as big as Ellery, Alexis George and Bowie at local trade shows, their reputation quickly snowballing. But it wasn't long before the label was put on the shelf, and Bath hasn't released anything since. Adelaide's tough conditions serve to magnify Dugan's success.
Dugan had already been working for Australian Fashion Labels when the company's design director Melanie Flintoft formed Keepsake to hit the trendy formal wear market at a low price point.
"It started off as an admin job and then I just kind of moved up," she says. "I have a general brief of what needs to be arranged each month and the type of customer that is."
"So far the collections that have been seen at retail - the brand's changed so much from even that. So the range that's in store now is still early days."
With 90 per cent creative control over the label, the designer can hint at what we can expect from the brand's November drop, whose lookbook was photographed last week.
"I'm starting to do exclusive prints each month, which is really exciting. We've got some quite thick jacquard fabrics and some rose gold sequins and a lot of beading."
The label drops 28 garments every month but December - 308 garments a year - so it's a wonder she can even remember what's in the November drop, which she started designing in January.
"We're working on probably three different ranges at a time at different stages of the range. For example, at the moment I'm designing April 2013 and then Tuesday I'm shooting for November this year, and then I'll also be working on fittings for January, and so there's a lot going on."
So how much time is actually spent putting pen to paper for a fast fashion designer?
"You don't get a lot of time really dedicated to it," says Dugan. "Unfortunately we just have to get the designs out. But I try to spend as much time as possible (designing) because it's the most important time, really."
With so many dresses, Dugan says she doesn't always recognise her work when girls wear Keepsake on the streets. But when she does, surely it must be difficult not to criticise the way the dresses are worn if they aren't styled the way she had originally envisioned? Dugan is more gracious than I: "That's the risk you take putting it out there. No one's going to wear it exactly how you would wear it, so you just have to take it as it is."
Fortunately for Dugan, there'll be no questionable styling on Saturday, September 1 when she shows the upcoming Keepsake collection at Fashion Avenue in the Queen's Theatre in Adelaide. The label will be flanked by local and national designers including Porcelain, Alannah Hill, Gorman, Alex Perry, Lisa Ho, Morrison, and more. Tickets are from $60 and available online.
*****
I wanted to show you a couple of Dugan's designs from her most recent collection, so I took a couple of quick snaps for you. Initially I was really intimidated by what seemed to be Lilliputian waist sizes, but they're actually extremely flattering, comfortable and right on the standard size.

IZE Magazine Shoot.
0 commentsWe were recently approached by an amazingly talented photographer named Demi Cambridge to feature one of our 'First Love' bustiers in a photo shoot, and we are in love with the end results! The series, which will be featured in IZE Magazine this September, told a story about a girl frolicking in between rural roads, sunflower fields, old shacks and through the roads of Texas and Killarney. The beautiful model Shelby Bourke from BUSY models depicts the casper&pearl girl in this editorial, she appears so free-spirited and adventurous! This bustier will be available to purchase from our brand spankin new website very soon!

casper&pearl girls.
0 comments'The casper&pearl girl never really grew up, she never really wanted to. The only thing that grew was her long braided hair and the flowers in her garden. Her inner beauty and free-spirited nature shined through her sun kissed skin. She is passionate about life and inspired by everything around her.'
We absolutely adore our customers! Here at c&p we're creating more than just garments and pretty pieces to hang in your wardrobe. We're creating a world of love, creativity and happiness where girls can dress in our creations and feel great about themselves. Each and every customer is a part of our brand just as much as the creator herself! We love to see how each girl styles their favourite c&p piece to make it their own, these are some of our favourite photos that we've collected over the last few months.
